    Dear Victoria Rumble:
I’m interested in using the delightful camp cooking image (01678r.jpg) which you used in your Aug 21, 2012 post on James W. Ennis. I’m producing a small Kindle book on my own grandfather’s experience of the war where he shares a recipe or two, and am looking for an illustration. Is this image in the public domain? Any comments would be much appreciated.

Yes, it is in the public domain. Look on the Library of Congress prints and photographs page. I forget exactly what I typed in to find the image but try general things like army cook, military cook, etc. and you’ll find it. Good luck with your project – it sounds very interesting.

  2. I was wondering if I could use the article “Scottish Eggs, A Classic Scottish Dish” on my website? I am in the process of starting up a small little business of selling them, and your article would be perfect for the history portion.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Nick, as long as you put the link back to my blog and credit the article to it (and me), you may use it. Thanks for asking first.
